For many years, I have preferred giving children workbooks instead of worksheets.
Children love having a book of their own and take pride in the work they do in their workbooks.
It is also a more effective choice administratively. There is no need to make “extra” worksheets to give to learners who lose them and to keep track of absent learners when worksheets were handed out.
Recently, lockdown learning highlighted the benefit of learners having access to workbooks. Work could easily be posted on line and learners could complete their work in their workbooks. It was more difficult for teachers who did not have the benefit of workbooks to provide learners with work."
